Graduation and a piece of summer
So a lot has happened lately. I graduated from Walla Walla University, which is great, minus having to say goodbye to the friends I have made. It was nice of my parents, grandparents, uncle, aunt, cousins, and friends to come up and cheer me on! It was a typical graduation, not remembering much except for getting an empty diploma (the rest gets mailed after final grades are determined).

Structural Engineering Defined
For all of you who have no idea what I’m studying to become or what structural engineering is, I have found a great description…
Structural engineering is concerned with the structural design and structural analysis of buildings, bridges, towers, flyovers, tunnels, off shore structures like oil and gas fields in the sea, and other structures. This involves identifying the loads...

Update
It has been so long… I realize that I am not much of a blogger. I thought that I should write an update since nothing has been said of this school year yet and what’s going on now…
I will be graduating this June with my Bachelors in Engineering, opening up a new chapter in my life. This school year has shot by so quickly. I have had some pretty tough classes but have managed to...

My Summer in a Nut Shell
Well summer finally arrived. These last couple of months have been spent in the Tri-Cities area in Washington State where I have been working on an internship. I have been, along with a friend and classmate of mine, designing a concept amphitheater for the Washington State University Tri-Cities campus. They had wanted us to design an amphitheater that could ultimately seat 10,000 guest, though we...

Been too long...
It has been much too long since I have posted on here! Well, to clue you in, I’ve been keeping real busy studying Engineering at Walla Walla University, developing friendships, doing web design, and all the boring stuff you don’t really want to know about anyway… I hope to post again soon, but don’t hold your breath…

The Crazy Triathlon
Kind of on a whim I decided to go and do the Mountain Man Triathlon here at Walla Walla. This was one of the shorter one, no Iron Man or anything… 500 yd swim, 12 km bike race, and then a 5 km run. Not really sure why I wanted to do a triathlon, I’ve always loathed the idea of doing one before. But I did it.
I knew my chances of success were high. My reasons being: (1) I’ve...
Upcoming post you don't want to miss
It has been a busy, but fun last few days, I’d love to tell you all about it, but it might have to wait until Tuesday…
It will be good I promise. I had the hair-brained idea to enter this triathlon, it was crazy. Today I did a 5K race, not so crazy. I will have lots of pictures of my triathlon I will be posting soon, along with the results from the race, so stay tuned!
Walla Walla Adventist Forum
I was checking out the bulletin when I went to church today, and in it something grabbed my attention. I saw that the Walla Walla Adventist Forum was going to be in session in the afternoon. That sounded pretty appealing to me. The topic was The End of American Adventism? I showed up on time, and grabbed the last available seat; the place was packed. From the title, I was not sure what really...
Read Through Finished!
This morning I finally finished reading through the Bible again, cover to cover. This time I read the NASB. I’m a big proponent of reading the Bible all the way through, so if you haven’t read it through all the way give it a shot! I learned lots in my read-throughs, nothing helps to cement knowlegde like repetition. I’m going to have to figure out what I’m going to be...

Made it
I made it here to Walla Walla in one piece, obvious I know. I’m learning the ropes, figuring out classes… still too early to see how hard some of the classes will be. I think the engineering class that’s all taught in Chinese will be the hardest, just a wild guess! I’m thinking that in the next few weeks, when I’ve figured things out, I’ll write a comparison and...
And I'm Off!
In a few short hours I’ll be blowing this pop stand and heading north for Walla Walla. It will take in the neighborhood of 15 hours… It will be a long drive. Well, goodbye California!
Winding up...
This summer was unlike most for me, being five months long almost to the day. I’ve finished up at Southern and will be heading up for Walla Walla this next week. I’ll be finishing up work at Hub3 Networks; I just finished the Hub3 website too, just in time. I’ve been able to have some good times… Backpacking, races, friends, campmeeting, mines, Africa… But now...
Promised Photos...
I have now put up some of the pictures from my Ghana trip, you can find them here. I wish I had tons of pictures to put up, but I didn’t take that many… I’m working on a photo albums page, but that is not up quite yet. It should be up real soon though, so for now, this direct link will have to do. Check back again later, hope you like them…
The trip back
Rich (the guy I was with) and I had quite the trip back home. We left Wednesday morning to fly out of Accra, Ghana. After a bunch of security stuff, we make it onto the plane after bidding Dr. Pipim farewell. The plane eventually taxied down the runway, but then the captain announced that someone was feeling sick and that we’d have to go back to the terminal area (well there wasn’t a...
Ghana
Hello from Ghana! I’m sure many of you didn’t even know I was going to Ghana. It was not in the plans for months or anything… I left the states last Thursday and flew to Accra, its capitol. I came to help with the filming of Dr. Pipim. His mother died, and her funeral was to be a big event, and indeed it was. The President and many of the politians came, not to mention hundreds...

Backpacking in the Enchantments
I left Tuesday this past week to go on a backpack trip in Washington State. This is kind of an annual thing. This time we went up to Washington, in the very middle of the state I think. The hike was to the enchantments it was called. It was very beautiful there, so nice to get away from everything… We saw wild mountain goats, tons of wildflowers, waterfalls, and lots more. If you want to see...
Tennis
I’ve started to play tennis, not a bad sport. I bought a tennis racket a couple of years ago in hopes of playing a bit, but engineering doesn’t always give you much spare time… But now with summer here… Tonight was my third time messing around, getting better slowly but surely. So if you play, come and grab me and teach me a few things!

Wharf to Wharf
I signed up for the Wharf to Wharf race a while ago, and was getting slightly worried that I would do horrible… My last longer race was a 12K, and I was getting passed by strollers and women in their 90s. Needless to say it was bad. My knee had been bothering me a bit, so I got some new shoes in hopes that would help and stretched tons before the race. I was happy in the end, I didn’t...
Ugh, that Internet Explorer...
Internet Explorer once again reaches out it’s talons to irk me. Web design would be much simpler if Microsoft were to disappear…
Campmeeting fun
I always have enjoyed going to campmeeting, and this is my 20th I’ve been able to go to. It is fun to see friends you never get to see otherwise and to meet new people too. I’ll be up there this next weekend too, looking forward to then as well, but for now I’ve got lots to do this week…
a perfect God
I find it just so hard not to believe in God, something so huge and powerful… I look around me and see things so huge, so complex; my mind is boggled. There is so much beauty in the world, the mountains, forests, animals, ocean, and even more abstract things like friendship, kindness… But all of these things are not perfect, things so close to perfection it seems, yet not perfection itself....
Bushed
I’m pretty bushed after this 5k I ran today. It has been awhile since I’ve done one of these, so I wanted to just go for it. It was called Hernia Hill. It is not exactly the most fun of all races, but it was alright. My time was 21:13, a 6:49 min/mile pace, I’m satisfied for how hard it was….

Mitch the mechanic?
Yeah, today I tore loose my alternator, with wrenches of course! It is time for a new one, and none too soon. I have to get my Jeep smogged and registered before the end of the month. It will be much fun to drive, lots to do to it, but still fun…
